Monrovia Bulldog Athletics

The 11th annual Jim's Journey 5K Run/Walk/Stroll is rapidly approaching. The event will be held on Saturday, September 27 at 9:00 am at Monrovia High School. The event is held in memory of Jim Sichting, a 1969 graduate of Monrovia, whose legacy centers on his selfless support of his family’s athletic and artistic pursuits. A memorial contribution will be made to both the Monrovia High School Athletic Department and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Indiana. Jim became heavily involved in coaching his three daughters in basketball and softball during the early 1980s through 2016. His commitment extended to his grandchildren, for whom he coached basketball and baseball, exemplified by his unwavering support—even while undergoing cancer treatment—such as traveling to Ft. Wayne to see his grandson Todd win the 2015 American Youth Basketball Tour National Championship, and to Tennessee for another championship victory. Both championships were dedicated to Jim. Though unfamiliar with soccer, Jim attended games to support his grandsons Nick, Tyler, and Tristan. Additionally, Jim was a devoted supporter of his granddaughter Natalie’s involvement in show choir and theatre, consistently attending her choir concerts, plays, and musicals.
